Seymour Loft Project

A Reimagined Kitchen

This kitchen started off feeling very heavy and awkward with its original 90’s finishes. It needed an overhaul but on a shoestring budget, so we needed to make choices very wisely. On top of the obvious new paint and cabinet refacing, we also removed the track lighting and added pot lights to make the dropped ceiling appear larger. We replace the island counter top and extended the length to make it more streamline and functional and replaced the faucet to one more appropriate for this decade.

Check out the gallery below to see other angles of the kitchen.

A Stylish upgrade

The upper cabinets felt super dark and bulky and matters were made worse by the multicoloured, glass backsplash (yikes!). There wasn’t room in the budget for new countertops so we left them and installed a black splash that complimented the light tones instead of the dark ones. The vertical stacking pattern of the backsplash was also intentional to make the dropped ceiling feel taller. We built solid maple shelves that complimented the new butcher block island and styled them with daily tableware.

A Refreshed Bathroom

“A little bit goes a long way” was definitely the motto for this bathroom update. First things first, we got rid of the dark purple walls and horrible lighting. We kept the existing vanity base and just painted it and refaced the doors. We sprayed the original handles black to go with the new toilet paper holder, towel rod and faucet. Replacing the black laminate countertop with a light butcher block created cohesion with the rest of the loft and the new white vessel sink and faucet kept with the slight industrial undertones of the overall project.
